RECYCLING AND DROP OFF SITE INFORMATION

The Drop Off and Recycling Site location is in the rear of the Department of Public Works Facility at 242 Laurel Drive, Tobyhanna, adjacent to the Blue Bins Recycling Units and the leaf and yard waste processing Compost Facility. The area is secured by a chain link fence and gates that will be locked when the site is not manned. The area is also equipped with security cameras.

Items such as, but not limited to, mattresses, residential appliances, TVs, furniture, water heaters, bicycles, swing sets, lawn mowers (drained of gas and oil), tires off the rim, etc. may be disposed of at the site.

DEP regulations prohibit the Township from accepting items such as, but not limited to, hazardous waste, regular household garbage, anything in bags, Styrofoam, construction or demolition debris, raw wood, insulation, sheet rock or paint cans with paint. Disposal of these items can be accomplished by obtaining a dumpster from a private hauler or contracting with the private hauler to remove the trash from your property or haul the trash to a legal landfill with your own vehicle.

Materials delivered by residents will be visually inspected by Township personnel, prior to and during off-loading, to ensure quality control. The Township reserves the right to refuse ANY unacceptable items.

WE NEED YOUR HELP TO KEEP OUR COMMUNITIES CLEAN!

Litter Control & Beautification Program of Monroe County is organizing a volunteer team to respond to local litter problems–including illegal dumping. Volunteers are expected to keep an eye on local roadways and report visible problems as they occur. If possible, personal identification found in litter or dumping should be called into the office for follow-up. The offender will get a letter from the office, detailing the complaint and the litter laws.

Supplies (bags, gloves, safety equipment) will be available through the Litter Control Office. Any found or filled litter bags will be picked up by Litter Control staff.

If there is a great deal of trash or furniture, we will need the cooperation of local volunteers and municipal officials to pick up and dispose of the items.

Thank you for your interest and assistance. If you have further questions, please contact Litter Control & Beautification at (570) 420-3525.

The Tobyhanna Beautification Committee

Needs You!

In an effort to keep our community clean and beautiful, several concerned citizens formed the Tobyhanna Beautification Committee. These hard-working individuals are dedicated to keeping local roadsides free of litter and planting flowers and shrubs in various locations.

MORE INTERESTED RESIDENTS ARE NEEDED

to continue this great work.

If you are interested in helping to keep your community beautiful, please call the Township Secretary at 894-8490 for more information.
