COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION

The Parks & Recreation Commission consists of five volunteer members, who serve staggered terms. Many of its members also serve with other volunteer organizations and committees. With the help of the Board of Supervisors and the donation of our time and energy, we are working towards continually improving our Township Park and the recreational opportunities it offers.

Parks & Recreation meetings are held at the Coolbaugh Township Municipal Building #3 at the Township Municipal Center, 5550 Memorial Boulevard, Tobyhanna, PA. Upcoming meetings are scheduled for the second Wednesday of each month at 7:30. p.m.

We invite you to attend and encourage your help and suggestions.

If you are thinking about using a park Pavilion and BBQ grill for a summer event, “Tobyhanna House” pavilion has electricity. The rental fee is $75.00 plus a refundable cleanup deposit of $100.00. The “Black Bear” pavilion does not have electricity. The rental fee is $50.00 plus a refundable $100.00 cleanup deposit. Please contact Township Receptionist, Saundra Tigue, at (570) 894-8490 for information, reservations and applications.

SKATEPARK

The Grand Opening of the Township Skatepark was held last summer, adding an exciting, new enhancement to our facilities! We hope the  season will be fun and enjoyable for everyone!

Have a safe and happy summer!

COOLBAUGH TOWNSHIP PARKS & RECREATION COMMISSION

The Township Park is located on State Route 423 between the Tobyhanna Army Depot and Tobyhanna State Park. There are 77 acres of grounds, which co-exist with the natural beauty of the area. We have two well-maintained baseball fields, where you will most likely find a game or two in progress, when you drop by. Be sure to stop and enjoy watching our "future stars" ply their trade.

A short walk away, is the playground, equipped with brand new swing sets installed with varying seat heights for all sizes/ages, and a multi-unit climb, slide and hide play set. Walk the path from the restrooms near the playground, and visit the multipurpose field, used for soccer, football, flying kites or just running around. Follow the path alongside the multipurpose field to our new parking lot, and glance to your right towards Rt. 423--two pavilions, “Tobyhanna House” and “Black Bear” are now nestled among the trees, complete with charcoal grills—“Tobyhanna House” even has electricity. Picnic anyone? See the “What’s Happening” section of our web site for more information.

From the new parking lot you can reach the site of a third baseball field under construction. We hope the field will be ready for use by the spring of 2004. At this point, take note of our U-shaped Walking Trail. If you walk north, you arrive back at the playground.  Go south and you are near Rte. 423, where there is a new Skatepark, complete with pads and props.

The park has so much to offer and lots of room to grow. In the future, we envision having an activities building where a park activities director can coordinate a host of different things to do. In the meantime, please come and enjoy your park with everything it has to offer today. Be sure to say hello to our Facility Manager and the park caretakers, if you see them. They work hard to preserve and maintain this priceless amenity. You can help them out by disposing of litter in the garbage cans, picking up after your pets, and generally leaving the park in the same clean condition as you would like to find it.

Be sure to check this site for updates, and thank you for your support!
